She is a passionate Certified Mindful Self-Compassion teacher. She has been providing wellbeing training in Education and the community for over 20 years and teaching meditation and self-inquiry since 2006.
For the past decade she has combined meditation, mindful awareness, therapeutic practices and positive psychology to create personal and professional development programmes in person and online, in the UK, USA & Australia. Her mission is to inspire emotional health and wellbeing across the globe.
She has supported children and teens in care, young offenders, students, teachers, senior leaders, corporate executives, professional sportsmen, parents, carers and even prisoners. The extraordinary life-changing results of her Mindful Stress Management programme for men in prison validates the potency of her compassionate methods.
Kathryn is the author of the bestselling book Every Teacher Matters; Inspiring Wellbeing through Mindfulness and co-author of The Positive Edge Journal. She originated the Wellbeing and Mental Health module for Pivotal Education behaviour specialists, plus the Wellbeing and Engagement training programme for Optimus Education. She has written articles for The Huffington Post, The Telegraph, SecEd and other respected organisations such as The Teacher Development Trust, The Education Support Partnership Charity and Teachwire.
Kathryn has spoken at and worked with organisations such as the National Union of Teachers (NUT), the Association of Independent Schools (AIE), the Institute of Education (IOE), the Association for Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) and the Positive Education Schools Association (PESA).
Kathryn maintains a prestigious therapeutic practice at The Inner Journey Clinic in Harley Street, London. She has trained with Kristin Neff PhD, world leading expert in self-compassion (UCSD); and qualified as a Journey™ Practitioner with Brandon Bays, internationally acclaimed mind/body healing expert. She continues to train with leaders in the field of Personal Development and Human Behaviour such as Dr. John Demartini and with the Institute of Positive Education.
She spent many happy years as an enthusiastic Drama and Art teacher in mainstream secondary schools and inspiring adults and young people with differing needs within in the community.
Kathryn is the very proud mum of two gorgeous teenage boys and fervently believes that mindful self-compassion, acts of loving kindness and gratitude are pivotal to mind-health, wellbeing and happiness.

Liz felt like she was simply treading water in her life – going no where fast. She was done with taking any more courses. She was full up. No more head space for anything else.
Then a friend invited her to something more. Not by actually asking her…by walking her through a simple exercise. It changed her life so profoundly. What she experienced in that simple simple process was that life could be different, that something else was and is possible. Liz still does this exercise everyday, several times a day. It still blows her away.
Some months later she experienced and learned the Bars. In truth, she had hoped to have a miracle having her Bars run – afterall she had read and heard about a number people who had had physical transformations. She did not have that lightning bolt experience…and didn’t really feel very different. Over the coming days, months and years though she noticed that the more frequently she had her bars ‘run’ the easier her life experience was. She says, if her head gets ‘full’ she gets her bars run and there is room to breathe… What she also loves is that she doesn’t even have to say a word and it ‘works’. How does it get any better than that?
About six months or so after Liz was introduced to the tools of Access, she attended her first Mindful Self-Compassion 5 Day Intensive training. It dove tails beautifully with Access. She spent the first three years of her MSC experience gently deepening her own personal practice whilst supporting Kathryn and her participants in the room and behind the scenes. Witnessing the dramatic change in her own inner landscape and the profound life-changes in participants, Liz finally took up the baton to sit at the front of the room.
She is a beautiful teacher, gentle, non-judgemental and exquisitely patient both with herself and her participants. Prior to being introduced to the concepts of MSC in 2015 she had a very strong inner critic, and now finds she is able to increasingly soothe this critical voice & be kinder to herself. Now, instead of beating herself up with what she does not achieve, she intentionally acknowledges her successes, enjoying a few internal high 5s!
Liz loves providing amazing, memorable experiences where comfort and joy are the key ingredient. She is exceptional at creating, organising and running inspirational and supportive events. She loves learning, laughing and letting go! Liz is deeply skilled and particularly delighted about holding a kind, nurturing embrace for all participants.
Since 2015 Liz has added many tools to her life and living tool belt from Access Consciousness and Mindful Self-Compassion. Some she uses frequently and others less so – simply as the situation (and memory) dictates. They are now in the fabric of who she is and how she chooses to show up in the world.
Mindful Self-Compassion Certified TeacherAs a qualified Nutritional Therapist, Julia Sweetman has been running her own practice and teaching about nutrition, health and wellness for the Irish Institute of Nutrition and Health (IINH) since 2008. Prior to this, she had a successful career as a Senior Manager for a large Health and Beauty Retailer. Her change in career was motivated by a period of ill health that stemmed from burning the candle at every end possible and from a lack of awareness about self-care.
Julia’s journey to health involved learning about the positive benefits of good quality nutrition and of a regular mindfulness practice. These aspects were then enhanced by the addition of the ‘heart centred’ practices of self-compassion, gratitude and loving kindness. Living life in this new way has helped Julia to realise so many wonderful benefits and it has had positive ripples in every aspect of her life. This includes her approach to being a mum of amazing and fun focused primary aged twins.
Julia is also a qualified MSC teacher and has taught several MSC courses in Ireland. She is very excited to be co-teaching on our MSC Intensive programmes.
